Career Coaching for Professional Actors

Fortunately, following my graduation from Carnegie Mellon’s School of Drama, I was able to maintain continuous work in performance, rather than finding jobs outside of the industry to support myself. I developed a system for myself as an actor that many other professional actors struggle to achieve for themselves. Friends frequently turned to me for professional advice and guidance. It was then that I began to coach professional actors on navigating their own personal career choices.

I help actors create their own business plan, integrating three basic components: Passion, Purpose, and Persistence. I believe every artist should carve his or her own career path, guided by these three components. My work with actors includes:

  • assessing goals / creating a game plan
  • infusing positive energy into their career
  • navigating the highs and lows of the business
  • communicating effectively (networking/marketing oneself)
  • obtaining legit representation
  • leveraging unique skills and personal tools to book the jobs they truly want
  • monologue coaching (I have a large database of both contemporary and classical monologues to help build repertoire)
  • coaching audition sides
  • “Leo is a gifted coach and an incredible human being. I always felt empowered, motivated and grounded after a session with Leo. His exuberant energy, strategic tools and personal approach both empowered me to believe that I could achieve the vital steps in the biz of marketing myself in NYC and armed me with strategic tools to do so. With Leo, I no longer felt overwhelmed, but rather hopeful, clear, informed, motivated and excited. Trust me, if you're in the biz, you want Leo by your side.”

  • “Coaching with Leo has been vital to my success as an actor. His strategies for networking and goal setting are clear, simple and smart. I leave every session with him feeling absolutely energized and excited to get to work! He knows just how to nudge you in the right direction, while holding you accountable and responsible for your own success. Above all, he emphasizes decency, positivity and preparation. I can honestly say that without him I don't think that I would be able to stay positive in what can be such a tough business. I would recommend Leo to anyone and everyone. This guy knows what he’s talking about.”

  • “Leo is a remarkable coach and mentor, in addition to being a truly stand-out human being. Honest, centered, and charismatic, Leo makes sense of this business and always knows the perfect next step. He helps me find my voice and knows just how to navigate the ins and outs of this business with class, a sense of humor, and forward momentum. Leo was pivotal in my landing an agent, and his solid advice and guidance continues to be invaluable to me.”

  • “I've had the gift of working with Leo as an actor, a coach, and a teaching colleague. In all roles, he offers his passionate enthusiasm and unflinching honesty. Leo leads by example; he is the hardest working man in showbiz, and he teaches practical ways to keep everything connected and moving. He's never needed a survival job: he began coaching to share what made him successful as a working actor. The key to Leo's style is his authenticity. He won't offer any short cuts and he won't hop onto any trends of the moment. He only preaches what he practices, which I value greatly.”
